Week 9 #22 Downloadable Media

If you own mp3 player, you know driving time seems short when listening to a story or
your favorite music. I love audio books.
We have some book/audio/video downloads here at HCPL. Not as much as other sites(yet)
I sampled overdrivemedia.

Week 10 #23 The End???

Let me say CONGRATULATIONS !!! to everyone who has finished.

I was surprised by the number of participants for this program.

I'm pleased that HCPL is already using Web2.0 tools.
Right now we can do audiobook downloads
and video download( not as much to choose from as other sites) ,
check out lab tops, borrow from other places and
explore some web-based apps(google docs,zoho writers) . Just get to it!
HCPL should be using every technology that is available to educate our staff
and the public. Everyone can learn and grow.

My favorite app is blogger. I also enjoy You Tube's videoes.

This experience has left me feeling empowered. I've explored things I wouldn't
have, for that I am thankful!

Week 9 #21 Podcasts...

Atfer reading this assignment, I went to this site;

I like that it has cool interviews and each month there

is a Top 10 list of Podcasts and much more to visit.

Week 8 #19 Web -based Apps: Not Just for desktops

I like using google anything.
For this exercise I went to google docs.,and zoho writer.
Both will allow you to work on documents and share with others easily.
Good for job hunters , students and others.
Zoho writer has many features, I liked the templates.

#20 Discover You Tube

This is a site I've visited many times. Often funny and enteraining.

Anyone can make a video and post it here.

Week 8 #18 Social Networking:Making Friends in the comfort of your own home

*Visited MySpace-I know about this site have visited many times.
*Took the Facebook tour and signed up.
*Registered with ANIMOTO . Made a very short video with music.(I hope it worked)
* Visited Rate My Space
I have family and friends who are really into social networks.
These sites provide people a way to share common interests around the world or the next street over.
I laughed out loud at the video of skate boarders on FaceBook,enjoyed the music.(our patrons have had problems with skaters)
If you are a fan of the HGTV channel as I am , Rate My Space site is Great!!

Week8 #18 Social Networking

I have family and friends who use social networking sites. I liked RATE MY SPACE, if you enjoy HGTV channel you should check it out.
I've visited some of the social networking sites, MY SPACE, because I 'm on their list.
I don't want to give out personal infromation. I would rather exchage email, visits, or phone calls. I enjoy my friends better this way. I do understand why so many people like this activity.
You can meet someone on the other side of the world. Be careful & have fun.

Week 7 #17 Technology

The internet is a good source for information. I check my bank statements,pay bills, have made travel arrangements , shopped, tracked UPS delivery,researched family , searched for doctors, addresses.....
Technology touches our lives everyday, at home,for entertainment,learning/training,
and in the workplace.
As I sat sweating, in my new car, unable to unlock the steering wheel I used my cell phone followed my son's instructions and saved my day.
We depend on technology to make our lives easier :)

Week 7 #16 Wikis are Wicked

I know about wiki. You can add/edit content.

I confess I use wikipedia. I go there to check out people in the movies, and

in the gossip news.

Week6 #15 Web2.0 and Libraries 2.0

The web has forever changed the way information is created, gathered, stored and shared.
More and more, people are discovering that today's libraries need to keep up with the lastest in technology or libraries will become a thing of the past. I think of Librarians as "tour guides"
along the "Highway of Technology"

I was impressed with all the Library Elf does! I worry about security when signing up.

I don't want to monitor another library account at this time,

so I 'll will enjoy my own library account.

Week 4 Make Life"Really Simple" with RSS & Newsreader

After reading the information I found so many to sign on to.

I choose Google News.

Adding everything up going to the HCPL site is perfect for me!!
